G2G: I stole an elderly ladies birthday cake (I think)

GUIDE 2 GROWTH

Hi Friend,

This week has genuinely flown by…

Louis and I were both out of the office on Tuesday as we were gallivanting across the

countryside to pick up two very expensive pieces of paper because… I graduated! YAY!

It was an incredible experience. The university truly put on a captivating show.

Seeing the students receiving their PhDs wearing those incredibly elaborate hats and robes

on stage, while us bachelor’s degree holders were left in the crowd, made me think about how the university was marketing to us even during our own graduation.

Very clever aspirational marketing… Let me explain how.

The PhD hat is a powerful visual cue, symbolising advanced knowledge, achievement, and higher status within the academic community.

Its whimsical and distinctive design sets it apart, creating a sense of exclusivity and desirability.

Just as luxury brands use exclusive products to signify success, the sight of the PhD hat ignites a desire among graduates to attain that next level of achievement.

It embodies the ultimate academic success, making it a coveted symbol for those looking to elevate their academic standing.

So how can Aged Care providers mimic this feeling with potential clients?

By highlighting unique and prestigious aspects of the services offered—such as specialised training for caregivers, exceptional client testimonials, and exclusive programs—providers can create a sense of aspiration and trust among potential clients and their families, driving them to choose their services over others.

Depending on the socio-economic status of the service region you are caring for - this could be an incredible marketing opportunity for your business.

3 AGED CARE MARKETING TIPS OF THE WEEK:

Save money on marketing by hiring us before the EOFY!

I mean this speaks for itself but if you have been meaning to organise google ads, social media marketing, email funnels (all that fun stuff) our EOFY sale extends beyond the new year if you commit by June 30.

How to stand out in a saturated market

If you want to position yourself as the best possible solution in a huge sea of competitors.

Start with the right problem.

Here’s what I mean…

For example: If you’ve spent even 30 seconds looking for a aged care provider, you know there are tons of similar messages…

“We want you to live independently”

“We are committed to supporting our clients to live their life, their way.”

All those messages speak to the same common problem.

But that’s not the only problem clients have.

And speaking to a more specific problem can make it easier to position yourself as a perfect solution.

Let’s look at an example…

If the problem is: Your clients don’t want to move into a retirement home.

Try: We’re not just an Aged Care Provider. Every aspect of our care is conducted meticulously to ensure you maintain your independence to live at home.

If you are struggling to make an imprint into a saturated marketing. Book in a discovery call.

THINGS I HAVE LEARNT THIS WEEK

Any day could be your birthday…

Hear me out.

After my graduation I had booked a restaurant down Toorak Rd called Romeo’s to celebrate.

The whole family put on their best attire, weaved through surprisingly busy traffic for a Tuesday night and enjoyed some amazing Italian.

They gifted me a beautiful bracelet and I genuinely felt so special.

After we finished eating our delicious Italian dinner, I noticed a waiter was bringing out an amazingingly decadent chocolate cake with a sparkler for someone’s birthday.

I started to sing happy birthday as you do…

Until the cake was put in front of me.

Everyone in my family was looking around at each other thinking ‘is it actually her birthday and I’ve forgot?’ I was thinking ‘someone has pulled a funny one and told the restaurant manager it was my birthday’...

So do you know what we did?

We all went along with it.

I clapped… they sang… I tried to blow out the sparkler…

We then all finished the cake and everyone asked each other… who organised the cake and no one did..

The restaurant just assumed. Or so we thought…

We were laughing, reliving what had just happened.

Once the cake was demolished we were all basking in the glory of scoring a free cake… an old lady that was sitting on the table behind us walked over as she was leaving and said:

“Hi love, it’s my birthday too”

I was shocked.

I didn't know what to say.

All I could think was that I was a thief and a scandal.

They had brought the cake to the wrong table and I’d basked in the glory.

A daylight robbery.

If I’m honest, I do feel bad.

But not that bad… It was a bloody good cake.

I also learnt that - although highly unethical.

You could potentially get a free dessert at any restaurant if you dressed up nicely and received a gift. You might just get a sneaky birthday cake at the end of your dinner…

Anyways, that's all from me this week.

Appreciate you always,

Olivia
